Jhankaar 2010-6th Inter-school Dance festival

The ‘Talk of the Town’ Jhankaar-2010 the 6th Inter-School Dance Competition was held with much pomp and splendor on 30th Sept at Our Own English High School, Sharjah. With the participation of 15 schools from all over the UAE, the event promised to be a gala occasion. The event was graced by dignitaries from the corporate office Gems group and the media.  The Inauguration ceremony was replete with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Mr. Sunil Kanchan CEO of Sony Entertainment Television (Middle-East Region   ). The flawless and impeccable dance performances by students of Our Own at the inaugural ceremony proved to be the sumptuous starters to the lavish banquet of the musical festival.

.The participants who comprised of the junior and senior category could participate in 5 categories namely Bharatnatayam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Solo folk and Group Dance (Folk) in 3 different venues within the school campus. The response was quite overwhelming, with some participants taking part in all the 5 categories. The renowned judges found their task challenging as the competition was quite tough with no erroneous performances. The day-long competitions drew to a close with the much looked-forward to Valedictory Function. The Our Own Girls, Sharjah team once again enthralled the audience with their dance performances.

Participants from several schools namely the Millennium School(Dubai),Our Own (Dubai), Delhi private school(Sharjah),Our Own (Abu Dhabi),Abu Dhabi Indian School, Our Own (Al-Ain),Emirates  National School(Sharjah) and Our Own ( Sharjah ) emerged victorious in various categories.

The much awaited part of the event was the giving away of the rolling trophy, every school was waiting for this particular rime. Delhi Private School (Sharjah) won the Runners up Rolling Trophy while Our Own English High School (Dubai) bagged the Overall Rolling Trophy for Jhankaar 2010.All’s well that ends well. The curtains of Jhankaar 2010dropped down, leaving sweet memories and impressions in the minds of all present.
